Low Calorie, Low Sodium Spaghetti Sauce

Olive Oil Spray
1c minced yellow onions
2 tblsp garlic
1 (28oz) can crushed tomatoes
1/4c water
2 tblsp "no salt added" tomato paste
2 tsp honey
1 tblsp oregano
2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
salt

Spray sauce pan with olive oil.  Add onion & garlic.  Cook until tender.  Reduce heat to low & add remaining ingredients.  Cover & cook for 1 hour.

Serving - 1/2c    63 cal   3g protein   3g fiber   156mg sodium

  1. UPDATE - I have been making this recipe for over 5 years and for whatever reason, decided this year I would can it to keep a good stock on hand! This recipe cans wonderfully! Now my pantry is stocked full!!!

  3. Yes, I usually use ground beef or ground turkey. Whatever your preference is. And this recipe is 1lb meat to 1 recipe of sauce! Enjoy!
